Hickam Air Force Base
Oahu, Hawaii
Stronghold Engineering, Inc. served as the prime contractor for this $6.2 million project that called for upgrading the electrical distribution system for the Mamala Substation at Hickam Air Force Base in Oahu, Hawaii. The contract entailed construction of duct lines and manholes for two 46kV circuits, a Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc. communication system, and a new back (switching) substation, including the switchgear, metering infrastructure, and the building structure. The new capacity accommodates the existing 2002 peak base load of 25.4 MVA and the projected increase to 11.8 MVA to 37.2 MVA by 2005 and 38.5 MVA by 2007 and beyond.
