TACTICAL SUPPORT VAN PAD EXPANSION Project

Marine Corps Base

Camp Pendleton, Ca

Stronghold Engineering, Inc. served as the prime contractor for this design-build project at MCAS Camp Pendleton which called for the expansion of supply van pads that will house 260 vans (double-stacked). The expansion will provide adequate, safe, and secure concrete pads to accommodate and support 260 mobile facilities vans used for avionics, calibration, and other repairs to and operation of tactical equipment supporting aircraft maintenance of the Marine Avionics Logistical Squadron 39 (MALS) unit when in combat. The project consisted of many exciting features including a massive existing underground utility relocation, 4″ duct bank conduits feeding “Pop-up” locations around the site where Marine personnel will plug into various power requirements for their Vans, a restroom facility for Male and Female Marines, an Air compressor and Shed, one acre of 8″ thick, reinforced concrete, site lighting, fiber, and copper telco connections, and two (2) 12kV Unit Substations at 3000KVA. Water and air are also provided at the Pop-ups for tool usage within the Vans.
