Naval Air Station North Island

Coronado, Ca

This project reconfigured and restriped the existing aircraft parking apron and flight line electrical distribution system (FLEDS) to accommodate approximately 51 aircraft. In addition, the existing 400Hz FLEDS equipment located on the parking apron was replaced and relocated to support the new aircraft-parking configuration. The underground electrical distribution system feeding the FLEDS equipment was extended and modified as required to support the relocation of the FLEDS equipment. New aircraft grounding points and tie down mooring eyes were also provided to accommodate each aircraft parking location. The scope of work for the project included demolition of existing storm grate inlets and installation of new apron pavement markings as well as installation of tie down mooring eyes, underground electrical conductors, aircraft grounding points, pavement markings, underground electrical distribution system, and modification of the distribution boards.
