COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA FACILITIES
Santa Clara, Ca
The County of Santa Clara selected Stronghold Engineering, Inc. to provide cost effective, solar photovoltaic electric generating systems for several facilities located within Santa Clara County. The combination of roof top, carport and ground mounted systems is now providing more than 5MW of power for the County. The project was part of the County of Santa Clara’s multi-jurisdiction renewable energy procurement effort; said to be one of the largest in the US in terms of the number of sites and cities participating. Design started in February of 2011, ground broke in July 2011 and the project was successfully completed in April 2012.
On May 1, 2012, Stronghold Engineering, Inc. participated in a ribbon cutting event that marked a momentous occasion for the County of Santa Clara celebrating the commissioning of over 5 megawatts of solar power generation systems. This celebration was held under a Stronghold’s installed solar generation carport located in the parking lot at the County’s Sheriff Complex.
The celebration culminated in the ceremonial switching of the power for the Solar Systems. Stronghold donated the ceremonial switch which was hand made by Project Manager, Jason Harris. County representatives; Gary Graves, Russell Hancock, Mike Wasserman, and Dave Cortese all simultaneously switched the ceremonial switch, which turned on the County of Santa Clara Generating Green Sign. This was another project success to be proud of for Stronghold and a proud moment for the County of Santa Clara as it now generates over 5 megawatts of clean energy.
