Obstetrics Department- San Diego Naval Medical Center

Stronghold Engineering, Inc. successfully completed a $2.5 million design-build renovation of the obstetrics facilities at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California. The project encompassed a complete overhaul of the labor and delivery department, mother-infant unit, and prenatal special care unit. The design phase incorporated a unique themed design concept, complemented by high-end interior design elements and special architectural features, such as the distinctive birthing wall design in the LDR rooms. 

To accommodate complex medical gas systems in patient isolation rooms, Stronghold implemented innovative solutions involving decorative casework enclosures. By employing a fast-track approach, the project timeline was significantly reduced. Rigorous safety protocols were implemented, including a site-specific safety plan and weekly safety meetings, resulting in a 100% accident-free performance and an outstanding project evaluation.

Comprehensive Combat Casualty Care Facility Project – Balboa Naval Medical Center

Our firm successfully completed a $4.3 million design-build project constructing a 34,000 square-foot Comprehensive Combat Casualty Care Center at the Naval Medical Center San Diego. This state-of-the-art facility provides comprehensive rehabilitation services, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and advanced prosthetics, to combat-injured military personnel. The project also included the renovation of a 3,500 square-foot courtyard into a challenging, real-world training environment. This project was recognized with the 2007 ABC San Diego Excellence in Construction Merit Award and outstanding accolades from the U.S. Department of the Navy.
