The City of Santa Clarita and Stronghold were joined by Senator Barbara Boxer on August 29, 2011 at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Solar Canopy Dedication Ceremony at the Santa Clarita Transit Maintenance Facility.
The new Solar Canopy Photovoltaic System provides the Santa Clarita Maintenance Facility with 97% of its electricity needed to power the facility, which saves the City approximately $137,080 per year in energy costs. This project was provided through the American Recovery and Reinstatement Act’s Transit Investment in Greenhouse Gas and Energy Reduction Program. The City of Santa Clarita was one of the few agencies to received funds through this grant.
With over 3,200 solar panels installed on top of the bus wash building and bus ports, Stronghold was pleased to be able to Team up with the City and successfully complete this LEED Gold Certified Solar Canopy Transit Maintenance Facility Project and to further help the City continue to be a leader in green technologies and promote the preservation of our environment.
