WELLFIELD EMERGENCY GENERATORS
Wellfield Emergency Generators Project
Las Posas Aquifer Storage and Recovery Facility
Calleguas Municipal Water District
Moorpark, CA
Calleguas Municipal Water District has the ability to inject imported water supplies into the ground at the Las Posas Aquifer Storage and Recovery Facility near Moorpark, CA. The property has numerous injection and extraction wells located on it. These wells primarily rely on the utility power from SCE to operate the entire facility. If that power supply were ever affected by an unplanned outage, the facility would not be able to operate.
Calleguas MWD contracted with Stronghold Engineering to embark on a project that would alleviate this issue, should it ever arise. Stronghold worked with Calleguas to construct the Wellfield Emergency Generator Building. The building features 5 high quality, 2MW Emergency Backup Power Generators. In the event of a power outage from SCE, these Emergency Generators have the ability to immediately turn the power service back on to the entire facility. This project was able to be constructed and completed despite the challenges of the global pandemic with COVID-19. The 5 generators are housed in a building that features sound attenuating systems as not to disrupt the neighboring communities.
